The following proverbs or sayings have been lifted from the Bible (King James Version) and simplified to conform with modern language.
Proverbs 19:18 -- Chasten your son while there is hope, and dn't let yourself be bothered by his crying.
Proverbs 19:23 -- The fear of the Lord gives life: and she who has it shall always be contented; evil shall not come upon her.
Proverbs 27:1 -- Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 22:1 -- A good name is rather to be chosen than great wealth, and love more than silver and gold.
Proverbs 22:6 -- Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is older, he will not forsake it.
Proverbs 22:26-28 -- Be not among them who strike hands, nor of them who are sureties for debts. If you have nothing to pay, why should someone take away your bed for you to sleep on? Neither remove the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.
Proverbs 23:12 -- Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to the word of knowledge.
Proverbs23:19-25 --Hear, my daughter, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way. Do not drink wine, nor be among riotous gluttons: for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor: and sleepiness shall clothe a man with rags. Hear the words of your father who sired you, and do not scorn your mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and do not sell it; also buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. Your father, if you are righteous, will greatly rejoice: and he who sires a wise child shall have joy of him or her. Your parents shall be glad because of your wisdom.
Proverbs 25:11 -- A word properly said is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
Proverbs 25:21-22 -- If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if is thirsty, give him water to drink: for you shall place coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward you.
Proverbs 26:22 -- The words of a gossip cause wounds, and they go down to the innermost parts of the stomach.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 -- Let us hear the whole conclusion: Fear God, and obey all his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.
Amos 5:24 -- But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Micah 6:8 -- The LORD has showed thee, O woman, what is good; and He requires you to do things justly, and love mercy, and walk humbly before Him.
Proverbs 16:17 -- The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he who guards his own footsteps preserves his soul.
Psalm 125 -- They who trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot beremoved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD watches His people from henceforth even forever. For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of thje righteous; otherwise, the righteous would put forth their hands toward evil. Do good, O LORD, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts. As for they who urn aside toward their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of evil: but peace shall be upon Israel.
